Chateau des Eyssards
Chateau des Eyssards is a beautiful 38ha estate to the south-west of the town of Bergerac, located on the edge of the Dordogne. The estate is planted with around 20 hectares of red grapes varietals of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc and 28 hectares of white grapes, predominantly Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.
It is currently owned by Pascal Cuisset, who is one of the most innovative young winemakers in the region.
Pascal is passionate about his wines and believes that while technology can be extremely useful in winemaking, it is the physical labour and intuitive skills of a winemaker that really count and he even drafts in help from the whole family to ensure that the vines are well looked after.
Winemaking is traditional and as hands-off as possible and the resulting wines are supple, smooth and laden with fruit and as ever from this region, offer fantastic value.
