Dark red fruit, Villero spices, leather, tobacco, smoke and menthol come alive in a rich, sensual Barolo
The history of Vietti can be traced back to the 19th century, when Mario Vietti made his first wines, selling most of his production to local villagers.
Mario's fame as a winemaker spread and over time the Vietti name became synonymous with brilliant wines, not just in the local area but across the world.
Since 1974 certain Vietti wines are dressed as original works specially created by an artist and inspired by the wine of that year particularly. The first 100 bottles are signed by the artist.
Grapes: 100% Nebbiolo (Michet clone)
Region: Italy / Piedmont / Castiglione / Villero vineyard
Maker: Alfredo Currado
Notes: Vietti's Barolo Riserva Villero is a flat out stunner. Dark red fruit, Villero spices, leather, tobacco, smoke and menthol come alive in a rich, sensual Barolo that captures the essence of this site. Rose petals, mint and sweet red berries flesh out on an inviting wine loaded with class and personality. Over time, the powerful, explosive style of the year becomes more evident. The fruit turns darker, more balsamic and also more intensely mineral.
Serve: At 18-20c with red meat dishes, fuller flavoured stews and rich game. Also matches well with strong cheeses.
